RemoteDataWork Terms of Service
Version 1.0
Effective October 29, 2026
These Terms of Service govern access to and use of remotedatawork.com, a platform operated by Speechify, Inc. through which eligible adults may apply for and take part in paid conversation projects that help build speech artificial intelligence. These Terms cover the website, account and platform. They do not replace the contributor documents described below.
Before taking part in a recorded session, an eligible person must complete the required onboarding process and sign the Contributor Services Agreement, the Recording Release and Data License, the Voice Data Notice and Consent, and the applicable tax form. The Conversation Guidelines and RemoteDataWork Privacy Policy must also be acknowledged. Those documents contain the terms governing contributor services, compensation, recordings, voice data, data licensing and tax information.
By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the platform.
Please read Section 15 carefully. It requires most disputes between you and Speechify to be resolved by individual arbitration rather than in court, and it waives class actions. You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days after you create your account (Section 15.10).
1. About RemoteDataWork
RemoteDataWork is operated by Speechify, Inc., 382 NE 191st Street, PMB 69469, Miami, Florida 33179-3899, USA. In these Terms, “Speechify,” “we,” “us” and “our” refer to Speechify, Inc. “RemoteDataWork” or the “Platform” means the website, account pages, project listings, qualification process, recording tools, review and appeal tools, support features and related services made available at remotedatawork.com.
An “Opportunity” is a conversation project offered through the Platform. A “Contributor” is a person who has completed the required onboarding and is eligible to take part in an Opportunity. A “Recording” is the audio and related transcript, metadata and review information produced through a recorded session.
2. Eligibility and geographic limits
You may create an account and apply only if you:
- are at least 18 years old, have reached the age of majority where you live (for example, 21 in Puerto Rico), and have legal capacity to enter into binding agreements;
- live in an eligible United States jurisdiction or in Canada outside Quebec;
- have reached the age of majority in your Canadian province, if you live in Canada;
- are not located in California, Texas, Illinois, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Washington State or Quebec;
- are not prohibited from participating under applicable sanctions, export-control or other law; and
- provide accurate information and complete any identity, age, residence and one-account-per-person checks we require.
Eligible United States jurisdictions currently include all U.S. states other than those listed above, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Eligibility is determined by residence and session location, not citizenship, national origin or ethnicity. We may use coarse IP-based location checks to confirm that a session begins in an eligible jurisdiction. You may not use a virtual private network, proxy or other method to circumvent a geographic restriction.
We may change the eligible jurisdictions when required by law, program design or operational capacity. A change does not create a right to take part in an Opportunity or continue participating from an ineligible jurisdiction.
3. Account and verification
You may have only one account. You must provide complete and accurate information, keep it current and protect your sign-in credentials. You may not share, sell or transfer an account, allow another person to use it, or create an account for another person. Notify support@remotedatawork.com promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
We may use an identity and eligibility provider to confirm age, residence and that each person has one account. The current verification design does not require a selfie. We may suspend an application or account if information cannot be verified, appears inaccurate or indicates that the person or location is not eligible.
4. Contributor documents
Creating an account does not make you a Contributor and does not authorize recording. Before the first recorded session, you must complete the following documents in the order presented:
- the Contributor Services Agreement;
- the Recording Release and Data License;
- the Voice Data Notice and Consent; and
- the applicable W-9 or W-8BEN tax form.
You must also acknowledge the Conversation Guidelines and RemoteDataWork Privacy Policy. The Recording Release and Data License asks for separate initials for use of Recordings to train and evaluate Speechify models and for licensing datasets to other organizations for their model training. Before every recorded session, every participant must separately confirm that the session will be recorded and used for AI training.
We record the version, language, date, time and contributor identifier associated with each signature, initial and acknowledgement. Each Recording is linked to the document versions in force when it was made. If a material term changes, we may require you to review and sign or acknowledge the revised document before another session. Signed documents remain available through the account page and may be sent by email.
If these Terms conflict with a signed contributor document about contributor services, compensation, ownership or licensing of Recordings, voice-data consent or tax matters, the more specific signed document controls for that subject. Opportunity-specific terms control the topic, language, rate and other details of that Opportunity.
5. Opportunities and participation
Opportunities may differ in topic, language, duration, equipment requirements, rate and availability. An Opportunity listing or invitation is not a promise that sessions, matching, acceptance or any particular amount of compensation will be available.
You decide whether, when and how much to participate. There are no required schedules, set hours, minimums or quotas. You may decline an Opportunity and may participate in other platforms or activities. The Platform provides topics, not scripts. You are responsible for providing the equipment and quiet environment described on the Platform.
Contributor support is provided through the Platform and support@remotedatawork.com. We will not require you to join a Speechify workspace or use another company’s internal collaboration tools.
The first qualification session is paid at the flat fee disclosed before it begins, whether or not it is accepted. Other sessions are paid per accepted recorded hour at the rate shown for the Opportunity. Payment timing, methods, tax treatment, the limited setoff for fraudulent Recordings described in the Contributor Services Agreement, and any other compensation terms are governed by the Contributor Services Agreement and the applicable Opportunity terms.
6. Recorded sessions
Recorded sessions may connect only enrolled Contributors matched through the Platform, whether two or more. You may not dial an outside number, invite a guest, allow another person to speak, or permit a minor or other person to be audible in the room.
Before recording begins, every participant receives a notice that the session will be recorded and used for AI training, and each must tap to start. Recording begins only after every participant has confirmed. A recording indicator remains visible during the session, and any participant may end the session.
You must speak naturally about the topic provided and follow the Conversation Guidelines. Do not read copyrighted material that you do not have permission to use. Do not disclose another person’s private information, confidential information, passwords, account numbers or other sensitive information. Speechify may transcribe Recordings and remove or mask detected names, telephone numbers, addresses, account numbers and similar information. This process is intended to reduce personal information; it does not make a voice recording anonymous.
Speechify will not use the program to create a voiceprint or speaker embedding that identifies or verifies you. Neither Speechify nor an authorized dataset recipient may use a Recording to create a replica of your voice, identify you by voice, re-identify you, or imply that you endorse a product, service or message. The signed Recording Release and Data License and Voice Data Notice and Consent describe the permitted uses of Recordings in detail.
7. Review, acceptance and appeals
Recordings are reviewed under the published Acceptance Criteria. A Recording may be rejected if it does not satisfy the disclosed technical, content, consent, safety or eligibility requirements. We provide a reason for rejection through the account and offer an appeal process.
Acceptance applies to an individual Recording and does not rank you or guarantee access to another Opportunity. We do not use quotas, leaderboards or general productivity scores to determine continued participation.
You must not manipulate a Recording, play back prerecorded or synthetic audio, impersonate another person, use automated participation tools, falsify session time or otherwise seek payment for content that does not satisfy the Opportunity requirements. A Recording obtained through fraud is treated as rejected, and Speechify may ask you to repay any fee paid for it or deduct that fee from later payments, as described in the Contributor Services Agreement.
8. Conduct and safety
You must comply with the Conversation Guidelines, which include the program's conduct and safety rules, and with reasonable safety instructions shown for a session. You may not harass, threaten, discriminate against, exploit or deliberately distress another person; introduce sexual, violent, hateful or otherwise prohibited material; interfere with another person’s use of the Platform; or use the Platform for an unlawful purpose.
You can leave a session at any time using the session's Leave control. To report another Contributor, use Report a concern on your Account page or email support@remotedatawork.com. We may review relevant session information to investigate a report, protect participants and enforce program rules. Retaliation against a person who makes a good-faith report is prohibited.
9. Rights in the Platform and Recordings
Speechify and its licensors own the Platform, including its software, site content, design, trademarks and documentation. Subject to these Terms, Speechify gives you a limited, personal, revocable, non-transferable right to access the Platform for the application and contribution activities it provides.
You may not copy, scrape, reverse engineer, probe, disrupt or circumvent the Platform; access non-public systems; introduce malicious code; use bots or scripts to create accounts or participate; or use Speechify names or marks without written permission.
These Terms do not assign or license your Recordings, voice or contribution output. Those rights are addressed only in the separately signed Recording Release and Data License. If you voluntarily provide product feedback, you permit Speechify to use it without restriction or compensation, but this feedback permission does not apply to Recordings or contribution output.
10. Privacy, voice data and deletion
The RemoteDataWork Privacy Policy explains how Speechify handles account, application, identity, session, Recording, payment, support and technical information. The signed Voice Data Notice and Consent gives additional information and obtains the consent required for voice data.
After a Recording has been accepted and paid, the rights granted under the Recording Release and Data License are irrevocable to the extent stated in that document. You may nevertheless request deletion of raw Recordings associated with you and exclusion of those Recordings from any dataset build or model training run that begins afterward. Deletion does not recall a dataset already delivered to an authorized recipient and does not require Speechify or a recipient to retrain or alter a model already trained on the Recording. Speechify retains consent, provenance, lineage, payment and legal records as described in the Voice Data Notice and Consent and the Contributor Voice Data Retention Policy at remotedatawork.com/legal/retention.
11. Suspension, closure and program changes
You may stop using the Platform at any time and may request account deletion through the account page or by contacting support@remotedatawork.com.
We may restrict or suspend access while investigating eligibility, fraud, safety, security, payment, sanctions or legal concerns. We may close an account for a material or repeated violation of these Terms or another applicable document, loss of eligibility, misuse, fraud, risk to another person or legal requirement. When appropriate, we will explain the reason and make an appeal route available. Closure does not affect rights and obligations that by their nature continue, including payment for accepted work, confidentiality, ownership and licensing, privacy, record retention, dispute provisions and remedies.
Speechify may change, pause or end an Opportunity or the program. Any accepted and unpaid Recording will be handled under the Contributor Services Agreement. No change expands the authorized use of a Recording without the consent or revised document required by the signed contributor package.
12. Third-party services
The Platform may use third parties for sign-in, identity and eligibility checks, hosting, email, payment and tax processing, support and other functions. Those providers may have their own terms and privacy notices. Speechify remains responsible for its own obligations and selects providers subject to appropriate contractual and security requirements.
Links to outside websites are provided for convenience. Speechify does not control their content or independent practices.
13. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Platform is provided “as is” and “as available.” Speechify does not promise uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, successful matching, acceptance of a Recording, continued access to any Opportunity, a particular volume of sessions or any particular earnings.
Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty, right or remedy that applicable law does not permit Speechify to exclude. Compensation obligations for accepted contribution services are governed by the Contributor Services Agreement rather than this disclaimer.
14. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Speechify and its affiliates, officers, directors and service providers will not be liable under these Terms for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenues, opportunities or data, arising from use of the Platform.
Speechify’s total liability arising solely under these Terms will not exceed the greater of US $100 or the amount Speechify paid you through RemoteDataWork during the three months before the event giving rise to the claim. This limitation does not apply to payment obligations for accepted contribution services, fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, infringement for which liability cannot be limited, or any other liability that applicable law does not permit us to limit. A signed contributor document may contain a different limitation for matters within its scope.
15. Governing law and disputes
15.1 Contributors. If you have signed the Contributor Services Agreement, its governing-law and dispute-resolution terms (Sections 13 and 14, and Schedule A if you live in Canada) govern every dispute between you and Speechify, including disputes about these Terms or the Platform.
15.2 Everyone else. If you have not signed the Contributor Services Agreement, Sections 15.3 to 15.12 apply.
15.3 Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and this Section 15 is also governed by the Federal Arbitration Act. This choice does not take away any protection that the law of the place where you live gives you and that cannot be waived by contract. If you live in Canada, see Section 15.11.
15.4 Informal dispute resolution. Before starting an arbitration or court case, the party with the claim will send the other a written description of the claim and the relief sought: you to legal@speechify.com, and Speechify to the email address on your account. Both parties will then try in good faith to resolve it for 30 days.
15.5 Agreement to arbitrate. Except as stated in Section 15.7, any dispute between you and Speechify arising out of or relating to these Terms, the Platform, your application, or the Program will be resolved by final and binding individual arbitration. This includes disputes about the scope or enforceability of this Section 15, except Section 15.8 and whether Section 15.7(c) applies.
15.6 How arbitration works. The American Arbitration Association ("AAA") will administer the arbitration under the rules it applies to individual workplace disputes, as in effect when the arbitration starts, as modified by this Section 15. One neutral arbitrator decides. Hearings take place by video or, if you ask, in the place where you live. Speechify pays all AAA administrative fees and the arbitrator's compensation, except that if you start the arbitration, you pay a filing fee no greater than the fee to file a lawsuit in court where you live. Each party pays its own attorneys' fees unless the law allows the arbitrator to award them. The arbitrator may award any individual relief a court could award and will issue a written, reasoned decision.
15.7 Exceptions. (a) Either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court. (b) Either party may ask a court for an injunction to stop misuse of confidential information, intellectual property, or the Platform. (c) If you allege conduct that constitutes a sexual harassment dispute or sexual assault dispute under the Ending Forced Arbitration of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Act of 2021 (9 U.S.C. §§ 401–402), you may elect to bring any case relating to that dispute in court instead of arbitration, and Section 15.8 will not apply to that case. A court decides whether this Section 15.7(c) applies. (d) You may bring in court any other claim that the law does not allow to be covered by a pre-dispute arbitration agreement. Nothing in this Section 15 prevents you from filing a complaint with a government agency.
15.8 Class and representative action waiver. You and Speechify each may bring claims only individually, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, or representative proceeding. Except as provided in Section 15.9, the arbitrator may not consolidate the claims of different people or award relief to anyone other than the individual claimant. If a court decides that this Section 15.8 cannot be enforced as to a particular claim, that claim alone will be decided in court, after the arbitration of any individual claims, and the rest of this Section 15 still applies. A court, not an arbitrator, decides any dispute about this Section 15.8.
15.9 Many similar claims. If 25 or more similar arbitration demands are filed against Speechify by or with the help of the same or coordinated counsel, the AAA's Mass Arbitration Supplementary Rules apply to them.
15.10 Opting out. You may opt out of arbitration under this Section 15 by emailing legal@speechify.com within 30 days after you create your account, giving your name and the email address on your account and stating that you opt out of arbitration. An opt-out under this Section or under Section 13.8 of the Contributor Services Agreement opts you out of arbitration under both these Terms and that Agreement. Opting out does not affect anything else in these Terms.
15.11 Canada. If you live in Canada, Sections 15.3 and 15.5 to 15.9 are replaced by the following. These Terms are governed by the laws of the province or territory where you live and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. After following Section 15.4, any unresolved dispute will be decided by final and binding arbitration before one arbitrator under the Arbitration Rules of the ADR Institute of Canada then in effect, seated in the province or territory where you live, with hearings by video or, if you ask, in person in the city nearest you where an arbitrator is available. If you start the arbitration, you pay a filing fee of up to CA$100, and Speechify pays the rest of the filing fee, all administrative fees and the arbitrator's compensation. Either party may instead bring an individual claim in small claims court. To the extent the law allows, claims may be brought only individually and not in a class proceeding. Nothing in these Terms prevents you from complaining to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, a provincial privacy commissioner, or any other government body. If you opt out under Section 15.10, disputes will be decided by the courts of the province or territory where you live.
15.12 Survival. This Section 15 continues after your account is closed.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Platform, the program or applicable law. The version in force and its effective date appear at the top. If a change materially affects an enrolled Contributor, we will provide reasonable notice and obtain a new acknowledgement or signature where the applicable contributor documents require it. A change does not retroactively expand rights in a Recording.
17. General terms
You may not assign your account or rights under these Terms. Speechify may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization or sale of relevant assets, subject to applicable law and the contributor documents.
If a provision is unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum lawful extent and the remaining provisions will continue. A delay in enforcement is not a waiver. These Terms, together with the documents expressly incorporated for their respective subjects, state the agreement governing your use of the Platform.
You agree to accept these Terms, and to receive notices and other communications from us, electronically. Your electronic acceptance has the same effect as a handwritten signature, and electronic records have the same effect as paper documents.
