How it works
From applying to your first payment. Applying takes a few minutes. The only thing recorded before you sign is a short voice sample, used only to check your audio and language skills and then deleted.
- 01
Set up your account
Tell us the languages you can record in and where you live, then record a short voice sample. It takes a few minutes.
- 02
Verify and sign
Verify your identity and sign your documents. Once your account setup is complete, you can apply to opportunities.
- 03
Qualify, then talk when you choose
Your first session is a short qualification, paid at a flat fee. After that, pay is per accepted recorded hour, every week.
1. Set up your account
- Sign up with email or Google. Tell us the languages you can record in, how well you speak each one, and where you live. If the program isn't open where you live, we say so right away and collect nothing else.
- Record a short voice sample so we can hear your microphone and room. You tick a consent box first. The sample is used only to check your audio and language skills, never to train AI or to identify you, and it's deleted within 30 days.
2. Verify and sign, before anything is recorded
- Verify your identity with our identity partner. It confirms your age and residence and that each person has one account. There's no selfie.
- Read and sign the Contributor Services Agreement, the Recording Release and Data License and the Voice Data Notice and Consent. The Release asks for two separate initials: one for training Speechify's models and one for licensing datasets to others for model training.
- You'll also review the Conversation Guidelines and the Privacy Policy. Signed copies are emailed to you and are always available from your account page.
3. Apply to opportunities
- Once your account setup is complete, you're approved and can apply. Each opportunity is a skill we pay for, such as natural conversation in English, with its own rate per accepted recorded hour.
4. Qualify
- Your first session is a short qualification, paid at the flat fee shown on the opportunity.
5. Talk when you choose and get paid weekly
- Sessions are conversations with other contributors: one other person, or a group with a host. They give you topics to talk about, not scripts.
- Some group sessions run at set times. Claim a place if the time suits you, and release it whenever your plans change. There are no minimums or quotas.
- Before every recorded session, everyone sees that it will be recorded and used for AI training, and each person taps to start. A recording indicator stays on the whole time.
- Pay is per accepted recorded hour at the opportunity's rate. Every recording is reviewed against the published Acceptance Criteria; if one isn't accepted, you'll see the reason and can appeal.
- Before your first payout, choose PayPal, Venmo or a bank account and complete a tax form (W-9, or W-8BEN in Canada) with our payments provider. Earnings are kept until you do. Weeks run Monday to Sunday (UTC) and are paid the following Tuesday.
